Energy efficiency in the old house

Time to improve how the boiler heat works in the old house.  After a year of research I went with Nest. It should save money by adjusting the heat.  No more constant tmp setting.  However one of the features I am looking most forward to is a more level heat.  Radiator heat has a tendency to have larges sings in temperature due to all the radiant heat that still is provided after the thermostat turns of the boiler.  Nest is supposed to learn how long it takes to get to the temp as well as how long it takes before it swings the other way.  Then it is supposed to automatically compensate making the heat swings much smaller.

Got a glimpse of what the wallpaper looked like in the butlers pantry. Interesting pattern looks to be the 40s or 50s but not sure.
