The Main Floor

You enter the house by stepping up on the limestone threshold and opening the original screen doors and passing through the leaded glass doors. Both still have their original hardware entact.

Once in the entryway, you will be on the original tile floor just below one of the many original lights in the house.

Passing through the next set of leaded glass double doors you are in the entryway looking at the ornate woodwork with another original light fixture at the bottom of the front staircase. This original light fixture was lit by either Gas / Electric, as were many in the house.

Entry to the Dining Room is available via a pocket door from the entryway or a set of double sliding pocket doors from the parlor. The parlor contains a set of built-in china cabinets. There is also a built-in sideboard. All the windows in the dining room are the original leaded stain glass. The wall sconces, candelabras, and the chandelier remain intact.

What was originally the “Music Room” is now a family room with original Gas/Electric light with a set of french doors. When the house was converted to apartments this room was modified. The sliding door was concealed in the wall and the French doors were added as the room was converted into the 1st floor apartments’ bedroom.

Passing through the wood pillars into the Parlor you will see large wood beams with ornate original electric lights. Along the walls are the original gas and electric wall sconces.

There is also a build-in cabinet with leaded glass.

A butler pantry connects the parlor to the kitchen.

From the Kitchen, you can enter a full bath (converted from a “Cool room” sometime in the 1950s). The “Girls” room now serves a kitchenette. Also off the back of the kitchen is a utility porch (originally an open porch).

The side entrance has a staircase with access to the side back door, basement, and other floors. It also contains the double doors to the elevator (dumbwaiter style). It also allows you to pass to the side hallway. It connects the side screen porch to the parlor. It also contains a half bath.
