The carriage house when built was a very modern structure.  It has 3 stalls, a room upstairs for the β€œman” and a basement.

It was all heated via radiant heat from the main house.

The main floor has a gas pump (called a Bowser) along with this hose and nozzle from 1910. One of the bays has an oil change pit so that the autos could be maintained on the premises.

There is a third stall separated by a wall with a sliding door. The floor is sloped down to a drain and appears to have had 2 hours troughs in the back wall. The original plans show it as a washroom.

Also on the main floor is a bathroom, complete with the original 1910 high tank toilet and sink.

The basement houses the original petrol storage tank to fuel the autos and power the dynamo. The dynamo was installed before the debate between AC and DC was decided and provided both. The dynamo is long gone but its large control panel still remains.

It has a room above was built for the man as he would not have been allowed in the house. It contains a large closet with 2 windows.
